Some Users are Connecting and Running Timer Pro

1) Ensure Input Data is Correct

On the End User PC, visually check to make sure the Float Server IP/Domain Name and MAC address shown in the input fields on the error message box are correct. If not, uninstall and reinstall with full admin rights to clear out the registration and enter the correct values.

2) Test Connection to the Server via Port 5551

Ping Option

Make sure the user can PING the server using the CMD prompt and the IP address –

example:  ping 10.10.10.256.

Telnet Option  (Install if needed from the Windows search bar by typing “Turn Windows Features On or Off”)

Once installed, at the CMD prompt type: telnet {Server IP address 5551}   An example is

telnet 10.10.10.256 5551

A good connection will result in a blank command screen.

If after attempting to connect via Ping and Telnet there is a connection error, IT must investigate why Port 5551 is blocked and unblock it.  Tools that can block the connection are port monitoring tools, Antivirus software, and Windows Firewalls.

3) If Steps 1 and 2 are Successful and you Still Cannot Connect

Stop the Timer Pro Floating License Service

Delete the following log files on the server:

C:\Users\Public\Documents\Applied Computer Services\TimerProFloatingLicense.xml
C:\Users\Public\Documents\Applied Computer Services\TimerProFloatingLicenseError.txt

Restart the Timer Pro Floating License Service
