This error message may be because Excel is not configured properly. Either a previous or newer version of Excel may have been installed then uninstalled. Microsoft leaves registry entries that may interfere with the current installed version of Excel. Your IT may need to assist with the solutions.
1. Please perform a Microsoft Office Quick Repair. Instructions on how to do so can be found at:

2. If this does not solve the issue, please perform a Microsoft Office Online Repair. The instructions are the same as for the Quick Repair except please select ‘Online Repair’.
3. If this does not solve the issue, please see if you can upgrade to a newer version of Office.
